Regrettable Decision

DYLAN'S POV:

Throughout the drive to the Bianchi mansion neither I nor Advira ma'am says anything. Only Evelyn and Amelia's nonstop talking can be heard in the car which is not bad. I understand that ma'am just wants to help me and my sister but it's not in my nature to take help from others.

After the sudden death of our parents 9 years ago, no one came to help me to take care of my little sister who was threatened to put into the orphanage. It's not like our parents were very loving towards us, but at least they were alive. At that time, Amelia was a toddler so it was extremely hard for me to look after her. That's why I decided to take three jobs per day because I needed to earn a lot of money to put food in our plates.

However, today I get to know that my sister gets starved because our uncle whom I thought of as a good person decided to keep all the money I give for my sister's expanses. I know that Advira ma'am is not lying because for some reason I can tell when she is telling the truth or when she is lying which she hasn't done yet.

"Are you coming inside, Dylan?" Amelia asks when the car stops in front of the huge mansion.

"You go with them. I have to go somewhere else." I reply.

"Where are you going?" Advira ma'am asks.

"I have some important work to do. So, can I take the car?" I ask in which she nods her head in response.

After the three of them get out of the car, I drive away from there to meet the person who is abusing my baby sister behind my back. It doesn't take me long to reach my uncle's house but what I didn't predict that the condition inside the house will be so bad. The whole house is filled with the strong smell of weed that there is no trace of fresh air.

It's good that the door is opened. Otherwise, I would have to break the door to come inside. Because Uncle is lying in a state of unconsciousness. But it is not that I feel any pity seeing him. Instead, I pick him up by the collar and drag him into the washroom before putting his head inside the water filled tub. Instantly, he jerks his eyes open and starts thrashing to get out of my hold.

"What is the hurry, Uncle? Let's get rid off your intoxication by staying inside the water." I say while putting pressure behind his neck.

"Let me go." He screams getting out of my hold but he isn't able to get much far because I punch him in the stomach.

"What are you doing, Dylan? Have you forgotten that I am your uncle?" He yells looking at me with anger but the fucker don't know that his anger doesn't scare me.

"So, now you want to me to remember that you're my uncle. Where were your sense of being an uncle when you were abusing my sister?" I spat making his eyes widen.

"Look, I can explain. Amelia was being a brat and that's why I punished he-" Without letting him complete his shitty confession I take a hold of his greesy hair and drag him towards the living room before throwing him in the middle. I don't let him take breath of calm because all I can imagine the crying face of Amelia.

"You dare to hurt my sister!" I kick him the rib making him scream in pain.

"You starved her!" Another kick deliver to his head.

"What did you think I'd never know what you do behind my back?" I smash an empty beer bottle over his head. I go to punch him again but someone hold me back.

"Leave him, Dylan. I will take care of this matter from here." Samuel says making me look at him to see that he has come here along with the Cops. I am still angry but I know I can't behave in impulsive way in front of the Cops so I nod my head and walk out of the house without giving a second look at my uncle.

After a few minutes, the Cops arrest my uncle who tries to argue with them too. On the other hand, Samuel asks some of his men to collect Amelia's things from her bedroom while I look down feeling like a failure.

I should have been the one to realise that my sister is in trouble. I was so involved in my job that I forgot to look after her well-being. She must be thinking that I don't love her anymore and that's why I haven't come to meet her.

"Dylan, I think you should go to the apartment to calm down. Advira has informed me that she will bring your sister there along with Evelyn." Samuel says putting his hand on my shoulder.

"Who told you to come here?" I ask although I have an idea about who can be behind this.

"I hope you are intelligent enough to know who it is. Remember one thing that just because Advira is rich it doesn't mean she doesn't understand others pain. There are a lot of things you don't know about her so I will suggest you to share your problems with her from the next time. It's not like I am telling you to become her friend but if you both don't have good communication then you won't be able to work together." By saying this he walks inside the house leaving me alone with many thoughts going through my mind.

I release a sigh before getting inside the car but I don't go to the apartment. Instead I keep driving through the busy road of Beverly Hills. I am still trying to process how I have been unable to see my sister's suffering. It seems she doesn't even have faith in me and that's why she hasn't share her pain with me.

I have always been the one with whom she shares everything from the very start and that's why I have thought that I know everything going on with her. But today's event is like a blow to my self-respect.

For how long I have been in car, I don't remember but when I reach the apartment it's already evening. I release a sigh knowing well that Advira ma'am will be very angry with me for my irresponsible behaviour.

Thankfully, when I reach the living room I find it completely empty because right now I need to take a long shower. Soon, I reach my bedroom which is very big compare to the tiny one I used to have before.

However, just as I come back out of the washroom I find Advira ma'am sitting on the chair looking quite angry. I gulp in fear because she has a way with her expression which can put fear in anyone without saying anything.

"Are you going to stand there like a dumb person or are you ready to talk?" She asks raising an eyebrow at me.

"I am sorry." That's what come out of my mouth.

"Really? Are you sorry for leaving your sister alone basically with a stranger although I like her a lot? For making her think that she has done something wrong to anger you? Do you even know how long it has taken me to make her stop crying because she was not seeing you around her?" A lump form in my throat hearing my sister's condition. Suddenly, one by one tears keep falling from my eyes and before I know I drop down to my knees.

"Dylan..." Advira ma'am says putting her hand on my shoulder.

"I am such a shitty brother, ma'am. I didn't even know what my sister wants for me to do. I thought that I am doing great by earning money for her future studies but our uncle was spending all the money on gambling and drinking." I let out wiping my tears.

"Get up from the floor." She says and I comply with her.

"Here drink the water." She says handling me a glass of water for which I am grateful.

"I am also sorry for my outburst without knowing anything about your past life. Actually, whenever I hear about someone getting abused it makes me remember the time my mother had to go through the same so I reacted the way I did earlier. But I can tell that you're not a bad brother, you just believed a wrong person to be your well-wisher. However, now that you know everything please consider my suggestion about keeping Amelia with my parents." She lets out.

"But how can that possible? I mean won't your parents be mad at me for crossing my limits?" I ask because this is my main concern.

"Then I would say that you have not understood my parents yet. They won't mind at all if your sister stays with them because they love kids. Not only this, I have already talked to my parents and they are very happy knowing that there will be another kid in the house for them to spoil." She replies happily.

"You are not lying, right?" I ask because whatever she just said feel like a dream to me.

"I do not like to lie at all, but still if you do not believe my words, then you yourself can talk to them and confirm whether I am speaking the truth or not." She answers making me shake my head at her in response.

"No there is no need for that. As you said, you have talked to them then that is enough for me." I let out quickly before she gets mad.

Awkward silence fall between us because I don't think any of us know what to say anymore. However, I think she understands this and suddenly clears her throat before telling me to follow her which I do without any complaint.

She opens a door and orders me to keep quiet. I follow behind her to know exactly why we are here but I don't need to ask her because I have seen the reason on the bed. Amelia along with Evelyn are sleeping on the bed with many stuffies are surrounding them.

I walk towards them before bending down to kiss them on their forehead. Thankfully, they are too deep in sleep to get disturbed. Still, without making any noise I walk away from them and leave the room with ma'am.

"Amelia didn't want to stay in the mansion after you left without saying anything. So, I brought the girls here and they decided to stay in the same room." Advira ma'am says when we reach the kitchen.

"I got so angry after listening to you that I didn't understand what I was doing. I knew enough that I had to go to my uncle and ask him why did he hurt my innocent sister." I reply.

"I knew that you would do something terrible which will make you regret later and that's why I asked Samuel Uncle to go after you." She remarks making me nod.

"Thanking you will not show how much grateful I am towards you. So, you can tell me what you want me to." I let out truthfully.

"Take a few days break and spend that time with Amelia." She says surprising me because this is not something I expect from her to tell me.

"But ma'am, I can't do that. My job is to protect you 24/7 so how can I take a break?" I ask.

"If you remember then I am not going anywhere for one week so there is no need for you to keep looking out for me. Also, now that Amelia is going to live in the Bianchi mansion you don't need to find any other place for her. So, it will be good for both of you to spend some time with each other. Look, I don't know exactly what happened to your parents or why she was leaving with your uncle, but I do understand that you care for her a lot. Then show it to her, not by giving your money. Show it to her by giving your time because that's what she needs the most at this time." She says making me realise that I am so engrossed in earning money that I haven't spent a second with my sister for so long time.

"How do you manage to understand her needs in this short span of time?" I ask because it's like a miracle to me.

"I am the oldest kid of my parents, not only that I have many cousins and for some reason they always come to me for suggestions whenever they can't solve their problems. So, I hope now you understand why I have realised what Amelia's needs so quickly." She replies with a small smile.

When I took this job, I have been told that Advira ma'am doesn't like talking to strangers. But right now it seems that she comes to the forefront to help everyone unknown to her. There was no need for her to help me or help my sister, but still she did and because of this I will always be grateful to her.

"Are you hungry?" She asks and at the same time my stomach growl making me embarrassed.

"I think that's the answer to my question." She remarks while I smile sheepishly at her.
