Dotting Sister

ADVIRA'S POV:

"What do you mean that we won't be getting this project?" I ask glaring at the head of my finance team who is looking at me fearfully.

"Ma'am, someone has leaked the information on the tender that we were going to submit." Jonathan, the head of the finance team replies nervously while I try not to tear apart everything in my sight.

I have been working very hard to get this particular project but it seems there's a traitor in the company who is working against me. This is what I hate most when someone deliberately betray me while I try to make everything better for the employees.

"You can go now." I order calmly making him gulp because he knows well that this is the calm before the storm.

Without saying anything, he hurries out of my cabin while I dial Mia's number. After a few rings, she picks up the call.

"What good deed have I done this morning to get a call from the busy CEO friend of mine?" That's the first thing she asks making me rethink my decision of being friend with her.

"Mia, can you please shut up and listen to me?" I ask messaging my tempal in frustration.

"Geez! Don't need to be so rude. Fine, tell me what I can do for you." She says.

"Someone in the company is working for my rival company and have already leaked some delicate information to them. I want you to find about the person." I inform her.

"This matter is very serious, Advira. Have you talked to your employees about it?" She asks worriedly.

"No, I didn't ask and I don't want to ask because I know enough that no one will accept their mistakes on their own. That's why I am asking you to solve this matter without telling anyone." I reply leaning against my chair.

"Ok send me the details of all the employees of your company, I will do the rest myself." She says before disconnecting the call.

Mia is what we like to call a computer geek as she likes to work with everything related to computer. Let it be hacking or tracking information about anything, she is an expert in this field. Although she runs a restaurant but only a few know about her real identity which is to find information on people which can be only done by private investigator.

Everyone was literally shocked when Mia announced that she wanted to open her own restaurant because we thought that she would like to become a doctor just like her big sister Delilah who now stays in Germany along with her husband.

"Di..." I hear Ian's voice who walks inside my cabin looking very tensed.

"What happened? Are you okay?" I ask getting up from my chair just as his phone starts ringing. So, he picks up the call and tell whoever called him that we are coming which confuses me as I still don't know what's going on.

"Where are we going?" I ask after he disconnects the call.

"Di, it was the maid who called me. Evelyn is not feeling well as she is having stomach ache pretty badly." He says making my eyes widen.

"Oh no, my baby. Let's go before her health become more worse." I let out just as Dylan walks out of the washroom.

"Is everything okay?" Dylan asks noticing the worried looks on my face as well as Ian's.

"I will tell you everything in the car." That's all I reply before the three of us leave the cabin. On the way to the Bianchi mansion, I drive the car while informing Dylan about Evelyn's health and how she has always been a sensitive person from the birth.

As soon as we reach our destination, I hand the car keys to Dylan for him to park the car properly. I run inside along with Ian and can hear my baby's whimper which is coming from the living room. Just as I arrive there, I notice that Ethan is trying his best to console our baby sister who is crying very badly.

"Eve!" I let out making both of their heads turn in my direction.

"Divi!" Evelyn cries making grabby hands at me which I don't hesitate to pick her up in my arms. She may be a twelve years old but due to us spoiling her with extreme love, she is still a baby who needs her siblings or parents to console her.

"What happened, Eve? Have you eaten anything too spicy or sweet for you to have stomach ache?" I ask because I know this girl loves spicy and sweet things too much to avoid them.

"No, I didn't. I am having this stomach aches for yesterday but today it got too bad for me to keep quiet." She replies making me curse inwardly. My sister is in pain for so long yet I don't have any idea about it.

"Then, today in the morning I saw some blood on my pants. I got so scared but I cleaned myself as much as I can with the help of maid aunty." My eyes widen hearing her words because now I understand exactly what happened to her.

"How about we go to your room and Divi tell you exactly why you have stomach ache?" I suggest while she nods her head looking at me with a pout.

"I am taking her upstairs." I tell the boys who nod their heads in response.

I walk up the stairs Evelyn clinging to me like a koala but I don't mind as I like to carry her. Soon we reach her room and sit on the bed with her on my lap.

"Eve, I know you got scared seeing blood but it's natural for every girl. Remember you used to see me holding hot water bags on my stomach many times when I lived here? That was because I too felt pain in my lower stomach." I tell her in which she looks confused.

"The blood flowing out of your private area is called menstruation or period which happens every month. However, every girl have different types of consequences such as headache, stomach pain, vomiting etc." I further add knowing it will take some time for her to understand all of these.

"So, nothing is wrong with me?" She asks in a small voice.

"No, baby. You are completely fine. I just wish Mum was here because she would be the best person to take care of you like she did with me." I let out with a sigh.

"It's okay Divi, you and brothers are here to take care of me. But my stomach is really paining very badly." She says with teary eyes making me wonder if I should call the doctor asking for pain meds. But then again I don't think Mum will be happy with my decision. So, I decide to video call her and let her talk to Eve.

"How are my girls doing?" Mum asks cheerfully but then her eyes fall on Eve who is still crying silently.

"Mishti, why are you crying? Did anyone bully you in school?" Mum asks using the nickname she has given Eve who shakes her head in response.

"Mum, she has started her periods today and she is having stomach cramps." I inform while rubbing soothing circles in my baby sister's sides to soothe her pain.

"Awe, my baby has finally become a big girl." Mum comes making Eve smiles shyly at her.

"Now baby, I know you are not feeling well and for that I am very sorry I am not there with you. But I know that my brave Evelyn will be able to handle this phase of her life like a champ. Right, sweetheart?" Mum asks lovingly.

"Yes, Mummy." Eve replies before lying her head on my shoulder.

I hear a knock on the door to see that Ethan and Ian are standing there looking worried. So, I give Eve my phone and put her on the bed so that she can talk to mum while I walk towards my brother's.

"How is she?" Ethan asks.

"I have told her about menstruation and how it is normal. Now, she is talking to Mum over video call because I know Mum will be able to make her feel better." I reply casually because there's no need to hide anything from them.

"I think it will be better if she stays with you because you will be able to tend to her needs." Ian remarks which I can't deny knowing how our baby sister is too timid in nature.

"Then I will take her to my apartment for a week and also in mean time, I will work from home. I hope you will be able to handle the meetings in my behalf." I tell Ian who nods his head in response.

------------

After packing some essential things for Evelyn, Dylan drives us to my apartment. Thankfully, Evelyn has stopped crying and now sleeping peacefully. I have put her in my bedroom because I want to help whenever she needs me.

Right now I am in the kitchen preparing for dinner. I have heard from the maids in the mansion that Evelyn hasn't eaten anything since morning except a chocolate bar. So, I have decided to make some of her favourite dishes to cheer her up.

"Ma'am, can I help you?" Dylan asks making me roll my eyes.

"So, that you can destroy my kitchen one more time?" I ask sarcastically making his face turn red.

"Umm, I am sorry about that incident but I really want to help you. It doesn't feel good to sit around when my boss is working." He says looking guilty.

"Fine, you can help me in peeling the shrimps." I reply and show him how to do it correctly. Surprisingly, he gets hang of it pretty quickly.

"How is Evelyn doing?" He asks after some time.

"She is not in her best mood but thankfully she is able to fall asleep." I reply with a sigh.

"You guys are so different than many people I have met in my life." He says making me look at him to see that he has a sad look on his face.

"What do you mean?" I ask not understanding exactly what he is trying to say.

"I mean not every sister is lucky enough to get siblings like you and your brothers. None of you hesitate to talk freely about periods which is basically a new thing for me to witness. All my life I have heard that a boy should not interfere in a girl's private matter. But today when Evelyn didn't have her parents with her, you guys handled the situation like a pro. I just wish every sister gets to have siblings like you." He answers making me realise that there's something hidden meaning behind his words, like he is talking about someone very close to him. That's when I also realise that I know nothing about him. I haven't even read the file properly consisting his information.

"Dylan, do you think you can get Eve from my room?" I ask to change the topic feeling that he doesn't want to reveal much.

"Yes, sure." He replies and walks out of there leaving me to think exactly what he was trying to say. I shake my head and concentrate on the task on my hands which is to stir fry the shrimp.

After fifteen minutes, dinner is ready just as Dylan walks inside holding Evelyn in his arms. I smile at him which he replies with a small smile.

"Eve, do you know what I have made for you?" I ask placing a empty plate in front of her.

"What is it?" Evelyn asks with a pout making me chuckle.

"Chicken Flautes and Rice Noodles With Stir Fried Shrimp." I reply while a bright smile appear on her face.

"My favourite!" She exclaims loudly clapping her hands.

"Yes, your favourite and that's why you're going to be the first one to taste them." I reply before serving her the food on the plate.

I also serve Dylan who thanks me in appreciation. Then I make a plate for myself before sitting down on the tool to devour the yummy dinner.

"Aren't they tasty?" Evelyn asks Dylan.

"Yes, they're super tasty." Dylan replies smiling at her.

"I also have dessert." I let out making Evelyn's eyes sparkle.

"Really? What have you made?" She asks eagerly.

"Sorry, baby but I haven't made the dessert. I have bought it from the bakery." I reply truthfully because I didn't have enough time to make anything sweet at home. So, I sent Dylan to get the sweet thing I know my Evelyn will love to have.

"It's okay, Divi. I am happy with whatever you got for me." Evelyn replies.

"I will get the dessert." Dylan says and take out the Brown Butter Chocolate Chip Skillet Cookie out of the fridge.

"Wow!" Evelyn says looking at the sugary goodness while licking her lips as if this is the first time she is going to eating this. Dylan chuckles seeing the expression on my baby sister's face while I serve her two pieces of the skillet on a small plate.

We enjoy our dinner while Dylan and Evelyn chat about random things. I am amazed to see that Dylan talking so freely with my baby sis as it's a rare site to behold. It's not like I have known him for a very long time but I have observed that he doesn't like to talk much. He tries to stay to himself without bothering anyone as if he doesn't want be involved in anything.

After dinner, I sing a song which helps Evelyn to fall asleep while Dylan goes to do the clean the dishes. I still have a lots of paper works to complete so I walk out of my bedroom and straight go to my study room so that I don't disturb Evelyn's sleep.

However, my steps halt when I hear hush voices coming from the balcony attached to the right wing of the apartment. I get skeptical seeing Dylan talking over the phone and looks like he is quite angry.

"You assured me that you would take care of her. Then why are you backing out now?" Dylan asks angrily making me wonder about whom he is talking about.

"But how can you do that to us? You are our last hope, Uncle." Dylan says with a pleading tone which doesn't settle well with me for some reason.

"Okay, just give me some times to make arrangements for her to live somewhere else." That's all he says before lowering his head as if he has lost the battle.

I know I shouldn't have listened to his phonecall but now that I have done, I can't help but want to know more. Also, as his boss I have the right to know about everything.

"What's the problem, Dylan?" I ask making his head snap towards me.

"What are you doing here?" He asks instead replying to my question.

"That's not answer to my question." I remark quirking an eyebrow at him.

"Ma'am, have you read my resume which is provided by Samuel?" He asks surprising me.

"I just gave it a look but I haven't read anything in details. But why are you asking such question?" I ask.

"Ma'am I have a little sister who is same age as Evelyn and she lives with our maternal uncle. But my uncle just called me to inform that he is leaving the town for good so I need to look for another place for my sister. I don't have any other place and also if I get an apartment on rent then she has to leave alone because of the requirements of my job. So, I don't know what to do now." He explains making me feel bad for his situation. He is not wrong that a small girl same age as Evelyn won't be able to live alone in an apartment. Not only that, it's not safe either.

"What's your sister's name?" I ask out of curiosity.

"Amelia Rodriguez." He replies.
